RBC Heritage Betting tipsRBC Heritage 2013 Preview

Now that the dust has settled on the US Masters, attention switches to the RBC Heritage at the Harbour Town Golf Links at the Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Bookmakers have understandably priced up the Masters also-rans at the head of the betting market as they seek consolation for their disappointment at Augusta.

Brandt Snedeker went into the final round as 2-1 favourite having been tipped in this column at 40-1. He simply didn’t perform on day 4 and a missed putt on the final green saw him drop out of a top five finish. He won here in 2011 so is not without a chance. Jason Day looked set for victory on the back nine by dropped two shots to slip back into third. He received much attention for his “brain training” and he will need to re-focus quickly if he is to feature this week. If he can do so, the 29-1 offered by Betfair looks too big to resist.

Luke Donald never really got into contention last week but showed enough to suggest that his winning turn is not far away. He is 16-1 with most firms and I expect a more prominent showing from the Englishman this week. Jim Furyk and Matt Kuchar both flattered to deceive last week but could do better in slightly less exalted company here. Boo Weekley is twice a previous winner here so 33-1 could be good value.

Billy Horschel gave us a great run for our money in the Texas Open at 47-1 and can be backed at the same price this week. He did not play at Augusta so remains a player in form and possibly fresher than some of his rivals. He is worth including in our portfolio at generous odds.
