Lyoness Open 2013 Preview
The Lyoness Open is next on the European Tour for golf betting this week, and it is last week’s runner up at the Nordea Masters Bernd Wiesberger who is looking one of the strongest fits. He came into great form last week in Sweden, which was the perfect timing as he heads towards his title defence at the Lyoness Open in Austria. He can’t be short of any confidence after producing two sparkling rounds last week, carding a round of 64 and 65 on his way to third place.
The Austrian only came off the Challenger Tour back in 2010 to win twice on Tour last season. After winning the Ballantine’s he delivered his second career title when he won in front of his home crown in Atzenbrugg at the Diamond Country Club in 2011. So not only does he have current form, he carded a fifth at the event in 2011 before landing the win last year. He is going to take some backing and should be trending well enough for a 6/4 Place Market finish with William Hill.
The outside value bet this week should swing towards Sweden’s Rikard Karlbeg, simply for the fact that he too comes off the back of a solid Nordea Masters, and went well at the Lyoness last season too. The Swede finished fourth at the Lyoness last year in his maiden attempt, and took a share of fourth at the Nordea Masters last week. It would therefore make some sense to take a look at him for value in a top ten finish.
The other obvious fit for a challenge this week is Spain’s Pablo Larrazabal, who has four top tens, and seven top twenties in his last eight starts. Can’t argue with that form, and had a steady eye in last week for a T14 at the Nordea. Posted a top ten here last season.
